Great Lakes Land Stories Project

Bringing people together to share personal experiences of Great Lakes lands and places.

Land Stories gatherings interweave guided storytelling with sensory exploration and art-making, to draw out new perspectives on relationships to land and place. People emerge with new knowledge of others’ experiences, and uniquely crafted objects that express personal understandings of land.

 Night walks, water-gathering, dancing by the sea. Through years of making and teaching, we have developed an array of methods for bringing people into closer connection with the living world. Through a range of conversations and activities we bring out ways that land touches personal heritages, and explore how everyday place-based actions can reveal deep connections with living beings, geologies, and histories.
