Great Lakes Land Stories Project
Bringing people together to share personal experiences of Great Lakes lands and places.
At Land Stories gatherings we interweave guided storytelling with sensory exploration and art-making, to draw out new perspectives on relationships to land and place. People emerge with new knowledge of others’ place experiences, and with uniquely crafted objects that express personal understandings of land. These gatherings can unearth feelings of connection and care, and bring new perspectives on human ways of being in the world.
Ursula and Margot’s lives and family histories are intertwined with the Great Lakes, and we both feel strong attachments and commitments to the region’s communities and environments. The Great Lakes Land Stories Project grew out of a shared desire to amplify feelings of connection and imaginative delight and throughout the Great Lakes basin, thereby supporting the region’s diverse communities and living lands to thrive.
